Delos is the birthplace of the goddess Leto and Apollo, the son of Zeus. Leto was jealous of the other goddesses for being with Zeus and had a hard time finding a place for him. However, it is said that the island of Delos turned into a floating island and Leto gave birth to Apollo here.
